Sessions available online via Skype or in person in Adelaide
Alana provides a professional service in a warm, caring and sensitive manner.
The structure will depend on individual client’s needs. Alana is available for one-off sessions as well as 6 or 8 week programs. Sessions can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly. In the first introductory session you can discuss what you feel is needed and the length of the mindfulness program.
Mindfulness is a practice that has been explored by the world’s meditative and wisdom traditions as well as various Western sciences, including medicine and psychology. It is a universal tool for cultivating self-understanding and healing and is not dependent on any particular belief system or ideology. The Chinese character for mindfulness gives us a clue to the scope of the practice: ‘heart presence’.
These sessions involve learning about the mind both theoretically through Ayurvedic psychology, and experientially through a range of simple mindfulness practices. Mindfulness coaching allows one to find personal ways to practically bring the art of mindfulness into everyday life, moment to moment.
” Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.” Unknown
Alana sought out a meditation teacher when she was 13 years old. She has studied concepts of mind, and mindfulness based practice with teachers from around the world since this time, including 7-years study in the traditional Indian martial art Kalarippayat.
Alana completed her Level 1 Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction training with the Mindfulness Training Institute of Australasia in 2013. She is an active member of the Mindfulness Teachers Network of South Australia (MTNSA), an organisation developed to bring clarity for the general public and those interested in mindfulness-based programs in SA. At this time of increasing interest in mindfulness, it is important to have confidence in the integrity and training of those providing programs.
Alana continues to develop her own practice and understanding of mindfulness-based approaches for health and wellbeing through ongoing studies in both India and Australia.
